			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Pregnant women who are deficient in vitamin D are more likely to need a Caesarean, according to the latest study from Boston University School of Medicine and Boston Medical Centre, published in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism.</p>
<p>Researchers checked the blood levels of vitamin D in pregnant women. In total 253 women were enrolled in the study, of whom 17% had a Caesarean section. Some 28 per cent of women with low levels of vitamin D had to have a surgical delivery compared with 14 percent of women with high levels. The researchers also believe&#8230;</p>

Fish contains omega 3 fats, which help brain development. But larger  oily fish like swordfish, contains higher levels of mercury which can hinder  brain development, so stick to smaller fish like salmon and mackerel or take a  fish oil supplement if you’re not keen on eating oily fish. <span> </span><o:p></o:p></span></p>

Close to 6000 families were monitored for eight years and anxiety levels assessed with questionnaires completed at 18 and 32 weeks of pregnancy. The children were assessed for asthma at around age seven. Overall <strong>the risk of developing asthma was a staggering 65 per cent higher in women who were stressed</strong> compared to those who were not. It is thought that the immune system of developing babies could be influenced by maternal stress, probably through the stress hormone, cortisol.<?xml:namespace prefix ="" o /><o:p></o:p></span></p>
